Farmers’ Market Opens Soon!

The Logansport Farmers’ Market will be opening for the season on Saturday, June 3, in downtown Logansport. The market will be located at 4th and Market streets.

The Farmers Market will be open for business every Saturday from June through October. Saturday hours are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. During the months of July, August, and September, the market will also be open on Wednesdays from 3 to 5:30 p.m.

In recent years the range of products from the Farmers Market has included fresh vegetables and fruits of all kinds, plants, herbs, meats, eggs, honey, maple syrup, jams and jellies, honey mead, specialized coffee/beverages, baked goods of all kinds, popcorn, custom wood signs, jewelry, fresh flower bouquets, greeting cards, homemade soaps and candles, knitted or crocheted projects, hand-woven rag rugs, baby quilts, and much more. Sweet corn is also expected to be back this year.

Local not-for-profit organizations may apply to set up a one-time, complimentary booth by contacting a board member. Once a month, the Farmers’ Market allows a local organization to share their mission with the community. Guidelines are as follows:

  • One non-profit organization may be allowed to set up a booth at no cost per month. These organizations will be chosen by market board vote. If selected, the organization may participate only once a year.
  • Organization may not promote politics or religion.
  • Not-for-profit organization setting up at no cost is not permitted to sell a product or to profit monetarily. The purpose of this promotion is simply awareness of information.
  • Not-for-profit organization may not in any way compete with an existing vendor.
  • Organizations must be located in the same counties that vendors are restricted to.
  • Not-for-profit organizations must provide a not-for-profit business ID number.

Local musicians are also featured at the Farmers’ Market on a regular basis. Guidelines are as follows:

  • Musicians may play for tips at Farmers Market on a first come basis, one music group at a time.
  • Music groups will be allowed or disallowed at the discretion of the market board, and all music should be family friendly.
  • The board may allow a group to reserve a slot of time on a particular date.
  • Musicians will not be charged to play at Farmers Market.
  • Musicians are permitted to accept tips.

All products offered are fresh and truly local – produced in Cass, Howard, Miami, Fulton, White, Pulaski or Carroll counties.

Local, Sustainable, Healthful Eggs

Egg Producers have risen to the spotlight recently due to nationwide issues and surging prices. However, the great news is that although feed prices are certainly higher, local small farms have not been impacted in the way that large egg producing facilities have.

*Due to smaller flocks and healthy outdoor access, local small farm egg production has continued, undeterred.

*Free ranged hens also produce eggs that have less fat and cholesterol, while containing more Vitamin A, Vitamin E and healthful Omega-3 fatty acids.

Truly Local!

When you shop the Logansport Farmers Market, you will indeed be purchasing 100% local. Our vendors only sell what we produce. You will not be shopping re-sale items, rather everything is produced right here in Cass County or a neighboring county.

What does this unusual approach mean to you?

  • All honey and mead is produced locally, sold by the producer!
  • All produce is fresh and grown locally, sold only by the grower/vendor themselves!
  • All artwork and crafts are painted or crafted and sold by the artisan!
  • All jams, jellies, salsas and baked goods are made by the vendor selling them!
  • Coffee is fresh roasted by the vendor!
  • Fresh flowers are grown right here and sold by the grower!
  • All Eggs and Meat are raised and produced by the vendor!

This approach limits what we have available throughout the season, but it absolutely ensures that the items you purchase are unique and are supporting your local farmers and artisans. There are no unknowns about the items for sale – just ask the vendor! They know everything about what they sell, because they made it all! We would like to thank you for shopping locally and supporting your community.
